Boot pants made of white goat and lamb (baby) sheep leather, printed with an ultrasound image of a fetus. The design evokes a womb that envelops the child, when surrounded by (adult) sheep leather, 2024.

The fetus image appears in the center, rendered in a monochrome black, white and gray patern, it’s form defined by contrast. By folding the bottom of the pants, the piece blurs the line between boots and pants, creating a deliberate ambiguity.

Yamamoto: ‘I’m anxious about my future, even though I could have become anything before the baby was born. A new category called boot pants has been born. An ultrasound photo of a baby that represents the future. As an artist I expressed the uncertainty and possibility of my future through my still young self and the boot pants, where the boundary between shoes and pants is unclear.
The ultrasound image of the baby on the pants tag (my mother had saved my ultrasound photo) represents future possibilities.’

Nominated for the Japan Leather Award 2024.
