Leather and traditional Binakol textile tabi boot, handcrafted in collaboration with the talented artisans of Zapateria, 2024.

These shoes are a tribute to the modern-day Filipino warrior. A symbol of strength, resilience, and cultural pride. It reflects not only the bravery of our ancestors but also the enduring spirit of Filipinos in their daily battles always rising, standing firm and moving forward.

The form is inspired by a men’s tabi boot made with genuine leather and traditional Binakol textile. It features indigenous elements such as traditional tattoo patterns, Baybayin script and a symbolic color palette representing courage (red), peace (blue) and unity (gold).

Every detail is intentional: engraved motifs represent Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao, the Philippines’ three major island groups. The use of wooden and brass beads along with a handmade brass emblem, pays homage to our indigenous heritage. The split-toe silhouette promotes discipline and stability, while the gold leather accents signify the honor and prestige of our warrior forebears. The overall structure is inspired by the Kalasag, a traditional Filipino shield, reimagined so that the wearer becomes the weapon.
