Multi-coloured mosaic calf leather platform shoes, 2025.
Inspiration: stained glass by Ben Houtkamp.
The base of these shoes is called a lining shoe. After all the functional stuff are added (insole, shank, lining, heel counter, toe puff, platform and heel) the pair is made symmetrical, patterns can be made. And one shoes has 48 pattern pieces. After cutting, skiving and glueing the pieces on the shoes the dark grey leather strips are added. This is to mimic the stained glass inspiration.
Wuyts: ‘I was challenged by René van den Berg to make some platform shoes and I immediatly knew what my inspiration would be, stained glass. It was a challenge but I loved every step of the process and especially the end result.’
