Wuyts: ‘What once started as a little side quest out of curiosity for making everything myself ended in a fascinating journey. I started crafting leather goods from online movies and quickly realised that I needed help. A bag making course led to a more practical view on leather than an artistic view. And what is the most practical leather use?! Shoes of course.
So, I approached René van den Berg, who led me further into the fascinating world of shoe construction and design. This resulted in a part time job at SASK. And a determination to make artistic shoes that are more than just functional. My main mantra is that everything can be fixed and can be used to learn something for the next pair.’
