Woven ‘brain CT scan’ fabric boot with a 3D-printed carrying bent figure as the heel, Ivo Schrama, 2025.
Ivo: ‘They sometimes say: Itโs all in your head. As if that makes it less real. As if everything you canโt see shouldnโt exist either. But believe me… inside my head thereโs a storm. A grey, sealed-off fog that you canโt just walk through.
Iโve sometimes wished you could see it. Not because I want pity, but because I sometimes doubt it myself. Whether itโs real, or if Iโm just overreacting. What if you put me under a CT scan? What if you could zoom in on my head? My real head. Not just the skull and the lobes, but the thoughts. The darkness. The knots I canโt untangle.
Maybe then youโd see that itโs not just a phase. Or a lack of willpower. And that would be enough. Because whatโs in my head is not โjust something.โ Itโs everything.”
