The colour blue of the hands decorated with white stars on the wrists symbolise NATO and Europe, as a tribute to Ukrainian aid and emphasis with forgotten refugee stories. The red colour of the soles stands for the oppressed struggle. These shoes call for deeper empathy and a renewed call for justice. Created during a ‘Shoe Lab Podium’ workshop at Schoenenkwartier, these shoes are (from April 2024) part of the museum collection.
