Sue Huey and Kathryn Kenny: “While structure, colour and material make up the essential elements of footwear design, the underlying theme that keeps every designer alive is the woman who will wear the shoe and ultimately make it her own. Many designers have a definitive woman in mind when designing… others, prefer the character to develop organically… The factor that unites them all is the desire to evoke emotion with their shoes, whether it be humour, a sense of seduction or empowerment. All strive to enrich the lives of those who wear them.”
