The architect and engineer Santiago Calatrava is well known mainly for his bridges. The bridge – normally a massive, overpowering object, becomes under his hands a sculptural creation, full of tension, seemingly caught mid-flight. Calatrava’s bridges challenge their very connection to the ground, and from this starting point the search began for a different kind of shoe. The shoes, like the bridge, hold the foot through the principle of tension, and offer a new approach to carrying the body. They are objects in themselves, and reach their final realization when matched with the feet.
Material: stainless steel, leather.
