Second year assignment 2012, choose a historical period and create a replica of a historic shoe, then design a collection of 3 pairs of shoes, based on a personal chosen theme, for SASK, d’Academie Beeld Sint-Niklaas in Belgium.
The collection ‘Tongari Atama’ is based on the Japanese MANGA (graphic novel) and the colors are inspired by the flemish Kuifje comic. This child’s shoe is a deformation of the MANGA rabbit. Teeth became pads, ears a boot, the shoe a face with a nose and eyes and it has also a little fury tail. A three year old model walked happily on them in the graduation show.
