Barbie

Yarden Habar

3D printed black and pink lace-up corset shoe with casted heel and toe shaped front, 2025.

In this project Yarden deals with the dictated ideal of the female foot โ€“ small, narrow, raised on heels. Through the design of a protest shoe, she reveals the limitations dictated by the rigid template of the ideal of beauty and raises questions about the desire (or need) to conform to it. Inspired by the figure of Barbie, she examines the two-way influence of the female image: On the one hand empowerment and liberation from traditional gender roles, and on the other perpetuation of impossible standards of the female body, which affect the perception of the body of girls and women.
