Németh: ‘My design originated from an Egyptian burial shoe dating back to the 18th Dynasty under Thutmose III (circa 1479–1425 B.C.). The original golden shoe was crafted as a burial accessory for Pharaoh’s wives, intended to provide both physical and spiritual protection for the deceased, reflecting Egyptian beliefs about bodily preservation and the afterlife. My reinterpretation retains the eccentric aesthetics and gold coloration of the historical artifact, but introduces innovation through metal technologies and 3D-printing, notably featuring a heel structure inspired by a distinctive hand gesture, as well as a complex organic geometry at the toe area.’
