Schuhtick – from cold feet to hot soles
From the Ötzi sandal to the high heel shoe. Shoe exhibithion from 20th September to 10 March 2013 in the Rheinisches Landesmuseum Bonn, Germany.
The oldest sandal Europe, Biedermeier boots, shoes of Marlene Dietrich, Sophia Loren, Jurgen Klinsmann and Heidi Klum – more than 400 exhibits tell the new interactive exhibition of the LVR-Landesmuseum in Bonn, the history and stories of shoes.
Of the footwear of the Neanderthals on Roman sandals to current designer shoes stretched ‘Schuhtick’ across an arc through the ages and across the continents.


Historical figures such as Pablo Picasso and Philipp Melanchthon about their special relationship with boots and sandals, shoes celebrities from movies and TV are in the spotlight as well as designer shoes by Vivienne Westwood, Manolo Blahnik and Christian Louboutin’s red soles. With international highlights and ‘shoe sizes’ from the last 40.000 years and a catwalk with TV recording for visitors of the exhibition offers new perspectives on this everyday garment.
