Van den Berg in 2023: ‘Recently I spoke to Peter Popps’ family about the privilege of having worked with Peter and having had the opportunity to contribute with my craftsmanship to the realisation of the tangible and admirable Peter Popps collection of unique and iconic hight tech extravagant art shoes. This conversation inspired me to make this pair of shoes with materials that Peter donated to me. The whole-cut design is based on an older design of mine that Peter adored and that I never had the chance/time to work out. The title of this pair is Hommage à Popps. I’ve made it as a lasting and loving memory of Peter, an exceptional designer and one of the nicest people I’ve ever met.’
