Irish knitwear designer Rebecca Marsden crafts carefully engineered, knitted footwear that enhances and supports the body in motion and at rest, exploring moments of pressure and release.
Knitting allows for the crafting of completely unique and complex materials row by row. There is great freedom and inquiry at play when crafting the material that becomes a wearable object.
Marsden sees knitwear as a second skin, a breathable, tactile and even emotive extension of the wearer. Just as we develop muscle memory, knitwear by the very nature of its structure happily morphs, returns and echos past movements, supporting the body and reflecting the actions of past trials and triumphs.
