Meesterlijk – design and crafts
From Thursday 27th until Sunday 30th of September 2012 the fourth edition of Meesterlijk will take place in Amsterdam at the Westergasfabriek. The event where product designers, fashion designers, food designers and artisans share their passion for design and craftsmanship with the public.
The Westergasfabriek will transform into the inspirational City of Design. Get inspired by designed and crafted products by furniture makers, glass artists, fashion designers, hat and shoe designers, food designers at three locations: the Zuiveringshal, Machinegebouw and de Openbare Verlichting.
A special edition of the NeighbourFood Market will take place at the Machinegebouw. At this Special Edition many good-food sellers from in and outside Amsterdam will participate including: bio-farmers, creative caterers, bakers, butchers, local chefs, food fanatics, barista’s, sandwich-hero’s, juice squeezers, sausage stuffers, cheese makers, zestful producers and distributors. To serve their food and drinks with passion!
Participants with special accessories at Meesterlijk are Studio Pepavana/Le Blue (gaiters made of beautiful fabrics (the designers welcome you with a sewing machine, materials and walking examples), Hester van Eeghen Leather Design (bright colored bags and shoes designed in Amsterdam, handcrafted in Italy) and Ineke Otte Design (know for her unique handmade jewelry, necklaces and earrings made of barbie shoes).
During the weekend there will be a grand, trendy pop up sale in de Openbare Verlichting, provided by the Concrete Image Store. Amsterdam Fashion Week will host some lectures from its programme ‘Masters in Fashion’ during Meesterlijk. ‘Masters in Fashion’ is a series of lectures in which Amsterdam Fashion Week draws attention to fashion designing as a craft. The lectures during Meesterlijk will be held by couturiers Paul Schulten and Frans Molenaar amongst others.
