Sneakers adorned with a blue selection of domestic objects: fabric, beads, dismembered toys, broken jewelry etc. , 2025.
Mandy Cano Villalobos transforms the remnants of ordinary life into sacred narratives, weaving stories of memory, identity and home through her interdisciplinary practice.
Her materials – dismembered toys, tattered clothes, broken jewelry – bear the imprint of past owners, transforming cast-off objects into reverent assemblages that honor overlooked lives and forgotten stories. Influenced by her nomadic upbringing on military bases and liturgical rituals in the Episcopalian church, Cano Villalobos constructs richly layered installations imbued with both nostalgia and universal resonance.
