Solid cast Jesmonite sprayed with black lacquered resin shoes, 2024.
Artefact II, part of the Mode Metonym Collection, was developed as part of a series of pieces designed for the body to fit into or onto; body‑related objects that question conventional notions of adornment and wearability. The pieces invite and provoke sculptural interactions and momentary tactile encounters, encouraging a performative relationship with the idea of an accessory or sculpture. The sculpted and cast forms, become sensual shapes, alluding to the body and creating a tension between attraction, familiarity, and novelty. Ultimately, the work seeks to question the symbolic function and value of adornment by shifting away from utility and toward an embodiment of practice. Through this, the objects explore how presence, affect, and bodily resonance might be embedded within sculptural form.
