Julie Monot is a visual artist with a Bachelor’s degree in Visual Arts from HEAD Geneva (2017) and a Master’s degree in Visual Arts from ECAL Lausanne (2019). Her practice spans multiple mediums, with a particular emphasis on sculpture, alongside performance, installation, and video.
At the core of her artistic research, Julie explores the boundaries of corporeal exteriority and the sculptural forms of representation that emerge from it. She is particularly drawn to the concept of the figure, which is a fluid and ever-evolving notion that serves as a space for critical reflection on social constructs.
Her sculptural work is defined by the creation of pieces that deliberately challenge cultural, social, symbolic, and mythological conventions of Western constructs. She incorporates transformative accessories, costumes, prosthetics, and elements of “corporeal furniture” to shape animated sculptures and artistic objects. Beyond sculpture, Julie also engages with performance, video, photography, and installation to enrich her artistic approach.
