Unibody

Júlia Káldy

This collection demonstrates how the silhouette of the foot can change with four different heel heights. With shoes on, it seems as if the natural shape of the human body itself would be distorted. But here, the outer shell’s light beige creates a connection with lighter skin tones, while the bright red of the lining represents the inside of the body; a stark contrast to the apparent homogeneity of the outer shells. As well, to create the templates for the leather upper parts (an orderly progression from closed units to an entirely vented one), the entire three dimensional structure of the soles and the shoe trees was considered as a unit. The result is a continuous, solid form without joints and the impression of a surface that is indivisible and invulnerable, 2010.
