Sculptural shoe installation, made up of 15 handcrafted female shoes which visually represent the three stages of a roses life ‘Bud, Bloom and Decay’ , 2021.
This artwork was created in conjunction with reading Ravishing the rose in fashion by Amy de la Haye, drawing from a series of quotes in the book including one from George Bataille in which he says ‘The interior of a rose does not at all correspond to its exterior beauty: if one tears off all of the corolla’s petals, all that remains is a rather sordid tuft’ The piece considers relationships between feminism, women’s lives and the life cycle of roses.
Material: leather, wood, recycled leather waste and eco glues.
