It’s all in your head

Ivo Schrama

Woven ‘brain CT scan’ fabric boot with a 3D-printed carrying bent figure as the heel, Ivo Schrama, 2025.

Ivo: ‘They sometimes say: It’s all in your head. As if that makes it less real. As if everything you can’t see shouldn’t exist either. But believe me… inside my head there’s a storm. A grey, sealed-off fog that you can’t just walk through.

I’ve sometimes wished you could see it. Not because I want pity, but because I sometimes doubt it myself. Whether it’s real, or if I’m just overreacting. What if you put me under a CT scan? What if you could zoom in on my head? My real head. Not just the skull and the lobes, but the thoughts. The darkness. The knots I can’t untangle.

Maybe then you’d see that it’s not just a phase. Or a lack of willpower. And that would be enough. Because what’s in my head is not “just something.” It’s everything.”
