There was no better place for young Dutch designer Iris van Herpen to show her exceptional ‘Escapism Couture’ collection than in Paris fashion week 2012. This was United Nude’s third consecutive collaboration with Iris van Herpen, designed exclusively for the show and produced in a limited edition of only 12 pairs. Inspired by the notion of modern society’s addiction to technological entertainment of all sorts and types, Iris van Herpen added her own twist to the idea of escapism, creating forms, patterns and combinations that celebrate the excess inherent to the digital world.
The Escapism Couture collection revels in extremes, mixing old and forgotten techniques with the newest technologies, creating a delectable fusion of the ancient past with the distant future. Iris van Herpen also collaborated on her collection with artist Bart Hess, architect Daniel Wildrig and the label MGX by Materialise.
