Sock clog

Hannah Zinger

Part of the Bezalel graduation collection ‘Éphémère’, 2018.

In the series ‘Éphémère’ the object functions as an intermediary between the physical and spiritual. Each shoe pair concentrates attention on an otherwise ‘trivial’ aspect of daily life.
These shoes arise from the search for a middle ground between The Holy and the mundane. All things must be both, for how could anything be truly Holy or completely mundane? The dried flowers, embroidered between layers of tulle, are destined to disintegrate leaving behind only faint vestiges of their past beauty. Mentor: Eliora Ginsburg.

Materials: maple fornir wood, white silk tissue paper, flowers, silk tulle, fabrics.
