Painted leather slippers with toe dividers, part of the pré-graduation collection ‘Night Restore, Morning Rise, Day Pulse, Evening Poise and Home Ground’, 2025.
We often take pain-free walking for granted, yet nearly 60% of Dutch adults experience or will experience foot problems. This is due to a combination of poorly fitting shoes, fashion-driven choices, and a lack of attention to foot health, which leads so many people to develop complaints.
That’s why this collection questions the way we walk and presents an ideal in which our feet are continuously stimulated throughout the day. This keeps them active and trained, reducing the risk of pain, injury, and discomfort in the near future.
This project forms the foundation of my pre-graduation project: an exploration of how we move in everyday life, and how design can contribute to a healthier, more conscious relationship with our bodies starting from the ground up, with our feet.
