Betony Vernon was born in Tazewell, Virginia, USA. In 1990 she graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University with a degree in Art History and a double minor in Religious Studies and Goldsmithing. After graduation, Betony moved to Florence, Italy to direct the metalsmithing program at 'Studio Art Workshop' and open her atelier where she created one-of-a-kind objects. She refined her jewellery making skills and studied industrial design.
Her work has been included in international exhibitions from the V&AMuseum in London to the Museum of Sex in New York City.
