Material: mizuhiki strings, brass & trim.
The pattern of ‘red and gold’ is based on a pair of early 20th century slippers sold at Grand Bazaar in Istanbul. I replaced the silk bow and buckle with red mizuhiki strings in a shape resembling a bower’s bird nest built in distinctive patterns and colors to attract mates. After all, don’t we all behave in a similar manner to advertise ourselves and attract mates?
