Unique wearable sculpture created with repurposed telephone wires. Inspired by the Covid-19 virus. Each coronavirus has a strand of RNA at its core, a molecule similar to DNA, on which the genes of the virus lie. The outer membrane lookes like the spines on a sea urchin, 2020.
Textile technique used is ‘Nålbinding’, also known as knotless knitting. This technique is a laborious process that involves passing the full length of the wire through each loop.
Khur: ‘My creations begin with current events related to global warming along with other subject matter that I research. The weaving process is very meditative and it allows me to absorb the thought process of each piece.’
