Together with Sabine Epple, the curator of modern art of the GRASSI Museum, Liza Snook selected more than 150 exclusive shoes from the Virtual Shoe Museum, supplemented with German artists and designers who created shoes.
Since the 28 March 2013 this shoe exhibition was shown at the Grassi Museum for Applied Arts in Leipzig. We are very proud to say that it closed with a record of visitors. More than 40,000 visitors came to visit and enjoy this show of more than 200 fascinating and surprising shoe creations by 150 designers from all over the world. About 40 percent of the visitors came from Leipzig and the surrounding areas, about 60 percent from the rest of Germany and abroad. This special exhibition is the best-attended show since the reopening of the museum in December 2007.
We presented fascinating and bizarre designs from unusual materials such as glass, ceramics, concrete, matches, straw, elephant dung, feathers, wire, metal, paper and of course leather. The show was interesting for all kinds of people, old and young, men and woman, designers and art lovers.
We are happy to announce that a part of these shoe selection shown in Leipzig will travel to the shoe exhibition ‘At every step. Footwear to be seen in Art and Design’ at the Museum Villa Rot in Burgrieden near to Ulm, on show from 27.10.2013 till 02.16.2014.
