A Mile in My Shoes, an interactive giant shoebox
Especially for the 27th edition of Winternachten international literature festival (the summer edition), art project ‘A Mile in My Shoes’ by the British artist Clare Patey (Empathy Museum), comes to The Hague. In this interactive ‘shoe box’, visitors can exchange their own shoes for those of a known or unknown fellow human being. During a short walk they hear the life story of the owner of the shoes through headphones. An ode to empathy!
A Mile in My Shoes
The collection of shoes and stories grows with every exhibition. The stories range from a surgeon to a sex worker, a florist to a refugee covering different aspects of life, from loss and grief to hope and love and take the visitor on an empathetic as well as a physical journey.
