Red sculptured shoe out of bread, water and paint in a with red poppies illustrated matchbox, 2024.

Created for Liza Snook to celebrate 20 years of the Virtual Shoe Museum in 2024, this piece is part of a special collection featuring 20 unique shoe artworks.

Elisabeth: ‘I was inspired by the limited resources they have in jail but still have the need to make art. In the 40s they made small cute shoe sculptures of chewed bread looking like shoes as gifts. I felt trapped some days in the house because of the hard weather and wind in Vardø and the limit of resources
here. So I wanted to make something out of what I had here and thought of the bread sculptures that fascinate me. I painted the bread shoe for Liza red and illustrated the matchbox with her favourite flowers, the poppies.
