This sculpture is part of a shoes series I'm currently working where I revisit some of my favorite classic sneakers silhouettes. With this piece I again tried to create a complete piece with both box and shoe notice some of the details, shoes lock down inside of box for easy portability, I also tied this piece around a theme, 'Pentium' the name of Intel's chips. You will notice this repeated through out the shoes, and box.

The conception of ever idea, where the first spark of creativity is ignited and leads to something beautiful and tangible. The goal is to capture this explosive, illusive moment of gleeful, giddiness, bottle it and share it with the happy masses.

[description] => Through continuous research on alternative materials, these shoes were designed as another experiment with woven fibres and sculptural wedges.
These pumps are made from woven carbon and kevlar fibres on a wooden wedge with a shiny black coating. There is a gap at the inside arch of the foot going through upper and wedge. From the outside they look like normal pumps, but from the inside the gap is revealed and light is reflected differently on the shiny wedge. What you see is not what you get...

Having taken a wrong turn I found myself entirely surrounded by nothing at all. Thus, I kicked the dirt shooting dust across a crooked bleak horizon... It was then that my head was shot with blood filled light and I fell forward... through the cloud of dried mud I´d just created, and onto that hard cracked ground.
The quilted upper leg of the shoe is turned to the outside and dropped over the foot, reshaping the standard ranch familiarity for smoother conflict and harder derailment.

These are Icelandic designed shoes of sruli recht, hand-lasted and numbered one by one by the master shoe maker workshop of Brendan Dwyer, entirely leather, entirely deadly.

[description] => The first Glamour Stiletto Run for 'fashion and fun' was held on thursday morning, the 8 of March 2006, in the P.C. Hooftstraat. The P.C. Hooftstraat is the famous Dutch shoppingstreet to find the major fashionbrands in Amsterdam. The race was won by the 20-jear old atlete Nancy Karels. The 150 participants had to run 75 meters of the famous shopping street, on stiletto's with heels with a minimal 7 centimeter hight and a width of 1,5 centimeters. Nancy Karels won a 10.000 euros worth of shopping money. The only male participant was Giel Beelen, The Dutch DJ at radiostation 3FM. He was especially invited by the organisation, the fashion magazine 'Glamour'.

While I was living in Barcelona I heard that CAMPER was looking for young designers to join their design studio in Mallorca.
As I didn't have any shoes designed within my portfolio I decided to develop a project that would follow the company's Philosophy while giving it an added value.
Traveling and storage was the main focus on the project.
The result is a pair of shoes that incorporates an assembly system in its soles, solving the problem of carrying them while travelling; storing them when you don't have enough space in your room and even exhibiting them in stores.
The possibilities of assembly are almost endless.
The project presented here shows only one of the many possible systems.
Shoes can be assembled sideways by straight rails; with positive and negative 'check board' like soles assembled as puzzle, etc.
As the solution is only applied on the soles, any kind of shoe can be developed with this system (men's shoes, women's, kids, sport, etc.) giving us the opportunity to explore and enrich this project even more.

The clog collection arose from a longstanding interest in folklore and traditional customs. To make some of the pairs of clogs, old trades like knitting, crochet and embroidery were used. By changing forms and materials, and above all by playing with the context of the well known Dutch clog, five pairs of clogs resulted, each with their own character and function, balancing on the borders of product and sculpture.
