Jan Jansen

Golden sneaker for the Xsensible collection, 2016.

Shoe designer Jan Jansen designed a golden sneaker for manufacturer Nimco, in honor of the 100th edition of Four Day Marches. 100 participants, men and women, will wear these sneakers during the Marches. The shoes are embroided with the number ‘100’ and the number ‘4’ attached to a red leather gladiolus. The symbol of the Four Days Marches, The Dutch have a saying, roughly translated, ‘death or the gladioli’, meaning all or nothing. The gladiolus has become a sign of strength and victory; a flower earned after a great achievement.
