United Nude shoes come in 2010, in a worldwide limited edition of 240 pairs, of which 168 pairs in 72 pairs black with gold and ivory with gold. The exclusive design has a number of exclusive shops including Sien in Antwerp and at United Nude’s flagship stores in Amsterdam, New York, Shanghai and Vienna, the boots cost around €1,000.
United Nude’s creative director Rem D. Koolhaas about the collaboration: “Iris was introduced to us after I admired her fashion collection. At our meeting, I offered making shoes for her. For designers shoes are usually last and often they do not have the right tools to make them: shoemaking is an art.
The Iris van Herpen X United Nude product is a glamorous ankle bootie with smooth round lines and golden leather detailing on the front and back of the shoe, with three-dimensional characteristics. Transparency, reflections and movements create the effect of visual estrangement. The construction of the shoe is so complicated and precise that each pair is 100% hand-made with the highest grade Italian kid leather available.
