Sonic Tapestry V – SHOES’

A piano concert, performance and an installation with spectacular high heels by Manolo Blahnik, Prada, Christian Louboutin and shoe designer Hester Vlamings. From a chocolate shoes to a whirlwind of two-dimensional ladies’ heels.

Pianist and artist Tomoko Mukaiyama intelligently weaves together various and very different compositions like Bach, Stockhausen and Ligeti and places them in a new musical and visual context. In her performance footware icons almost assume human proportions: they move, dance, make love, die and disappear. SHOES’ is a concert alongside a parrallel installation that is integrated into the performance but is also to be viewed before and after the show.

After the show at the Music aan ‘t IJ in Amsterdam on 28 October, Tomoko sold pieces (The bags, shoes, dresses, blouses and hats) from her personal wardrobe to her spectators. Including clothes by Alexander McQueen, Martin Margiela, Yamamoto, Commes des Garçons and Yves Saint Laurent. This exclusive sale SHOES’ was a stunning success. The stage became a colorful shop and the crowd was unstoppable. Over €2.500 was collected to be used for her upcoming projects.
