Ap Verheggen

Artist, filmmaker and UNESCO-IHE Cultural Ambassador Ap Verheggen, has been featured in numerous global media for his extraordinary art projects, including a 2014 International New York Times article. Ap gained world attention in 2010 by landing two monumental sculptures by helicopter on a drifting glacier in Greenland to show speed of Arctic glacier melt. On the moment he works at project SunGlacier: a marriage of science and art extremes: potable water production by solar power from air humidity in hot, dry conditions. This bold step in sustainable innovation is designed to inspire new adaptation to increasingly limited natural resources, as positive solutions are implemented for a more sustainable planet. This is the true essence of the power of art to influence change in how we embrace our surroundings.
