Antarctica by Kobi Levi

Inspired by the ‘Ice Desert’ of the South Pole, shoe designer Kobi Levi created the ‘Antarctica’ collection, featuring four styles. There are beautiful creatures living on the white snow fields and in the freezing cold water. The four designs have each a different ‘Antarctic resident’ in mind: ‘suited’ penguins, impressive orcas, giant whales and adorable seals. The styles follow the elegance of these lovely animals, made in classic black patent and white leather.

Penguin
Penguin groups can look like a crowd of people in matching tuxedos, but less formal and cuter! Blending the classic footwear wing tip cut with the Penguin’s ‘suit’ lines creates this new elegant pump design. Timeless classic style in black & white with a yellow ‘beak’ touch at the heel counter.

Seal
The adorable Seal has a simple fluent form and movement with a smooth clean body and a tail tip shape. A one piece upper cut in a spiral line brings out the fast wavy swim moves of this cute mammal to this version of a Mary Jane d’Orsay style in black patent leather.

Whale tale
As most of the time it’s underwater, the whale’s most memorable sight is its tail wave on the water surface. This ankle strap style captures the essence of the iconic whale silhouette with its tail lifted upwards.

Whale
Following the Orca’s iconic lines, spots and tail tip, this whale inspired design, captures the aerodynamic shape and beauty of this animal. T-strap Mary Jane style made from ‘Wet look’ patent black and white leather.

Kobi Levi
Graduated from Bezalel academy of art & design, Jerusalem 2001. Specialize in footwear design and development. Working as a freelance designer. Collaborating with both Israeli and international companies, currently working on his women shoe line in Tel-Aviv, Israel. Designed commercial footwear in both Italy, China and Brazil. Presented design in various exhibitions in Tel-Aviv, Jerusalem, Tokyo, Verona, St.Etienne, Berlin etc’… ” In my artistic footwear design the shoe is my canvas. The trigger to create a new piece comes when an idea, a concept and/or an image comes to mind. The combination of the image and footwear creates a new hybrid and the design/concept comes to life. The piece is a wearable sculpture. It is “alive” with/out the foot/body. Most of the inspirations are out of the ‘shoe-world’, and give the footwear an extreme transformation. The result is usually humoristic with a unique point of view about footwear. Another aspect of the creation is the realization. All the pieces are hand-made in my studio. The challenging technical development is the key to bring the design to life in the best way.”
